Pasta is part of our Greek culinary heritage. Many believe the word lasagna comes from the word laganon, an ancient Greek pasta. Laganon faded away but other pastas such as Hilopites, Trahana and Kritharaki became Greek staples.

Trahana

Sweet

A very traditional Greek pasta made from flour and sheep’s milk. It is has an irregular shape, and unlike other pasta, has a fine grain rather than smooth texture. It is best in soups and stews.

 

Why is it labeled sweet? Our trahana is sweet because it is made with milk, as opposed to sour which is made with yogurt.

Hilopites

Egg Pasta

Tiny squares of cut egg pasta. Wide enough to hold the sauce but no noodle droop so less sauce drip. As an egg pasta, it has a faster cooking time than regular dry pasta.

 

Food Pairing

Try Hilopites egg pasta tossed with your favorite tomato sauce, as the noodles in chicken noodle soup or simply enjoy it with 776 Greek Extra Virgin Olive oil, grated cheese and a little salt and pepper.

Hilopites Large

Egg Pasta

Long, slightly thick egg noodles that have faster cooking time than other dried pastas.

 

Food Pairing

Try Hilopites Large egg pasta tossed with your favorite tomato, cheese or meat sauce, sauteed in olive oil or baked in a casserole.

Kritharaki Orzo

Egg Pasta

Egg pasta shaped like a large grain of rice. As an egg pasta, it has a faster cooking time than regular dry pasta.

 

Food Pairing

Try Kritharaki Orzo egg pasta as a substitution for rice in your dishes. It is a delicious addition to chicken soup, or served with a drizzle of 776 Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oil, a squeeze of lemon and some fresh vegetables.

Nice wide egg pasta great for thick sauces. Our pasta is made with more egg than typically found in dry pasta so it has a faster cooking time.
